84 vs Australia, ICC Champions Trophy 2000
Put into bat by the World Champions Australia, India got off to a bad start. With half of the squad back in the pavilion, in walked youngster Yuvraj Singh. Yuvi’s useful knock of 84 came against a lethal attack of Glenn Mcgrath, Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie. India went onto win the match and send the Aussies packing early.
69 vs England, Natwest Series final 2002
English batsmen made merry of a flat pitch at Lord’s cricket ground putting up a massive 325, which included tons by then-skipper Nasser Hussain and Marcus Trescothick. In reply, India got to a flying start thanks to openers Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly but quick wickets derailed an improbable Indian victory. Yuvraj’s 69 runs that includd a 121-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Mohammed Kaif took India closer to the target as the victory went down as one of the finest ever.
139 vs Australia, VB Series 2004
Indian batsmen made merry on a batting wicket at SCG as Yuvraj Singh went onto score 139 that included 14 fours and 2 huge sixes. Even though India lost the game due to D\L method, Yuvi’s batting won him accolades and also won the Man of the Match award.
138 vs England, ODI series 2008
‘When the going gets tough, the tough get going’ – that was the mantra by Yuvraj Singh when he walked out to bat against England in the 1st ODI at Rajkot. When the critics were citing his poor form, Yuvraj answered them with the bat as he smashed a belligerent 138 as India posted a massive 387. England batsmen fell cheaply as India went onto win the match by a massive margin of 158 runs.
50 vs Ireland, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011
This match was one to remember for the man from Punjab as his 5-wickets haul and then a telling 50 took India to a well deserved victory over the Irish men in 2011 WC. His half-century and 5 wickets made Yuvraj the first player to score a fifty and pick up five wickets in a match in World Cup game.
