‘Test series will see a different India in SA’ was the rallying cry of skipper MS Dhoni who saw his team lose the series 2-0 to the hosts and now go into the Tests with minimal advantage. The Proteas are ranked number one in the world and ‘Mahi’ needs to up the bar if India are to win the series. Here are few points that we think could help India:
Spend time at the crease
In the 2 ODI’s, Indian batsmen played some rash shots and in turn, ended up giving up their wickets very cheaply. Even Dhoni admitted that his men played too many shots and did not read the conditions well. The Indian batters should give more time on the pitch rather than playing callously.
Ishant Sharma would revel on SA pitches
MS Dhoni should be applauded for the brave call on retaining ‘under fire’ Ishant Sharma who proved his doubters wrong by bowling on the buzzer in the 3rd ODI. His figures read 4/40 which could give him the much needed confidence going into the 2 Tests.
Play Ajinkya Rahane in 4
It will take something special to fill in the big boots of Sachin Tendulkar and none better than Mumbai born Ajinkya Rahane himself. Flattering it may seem but Rahane can really flourish at number 4 with Rohit Sharma taking the middle order reigns.
All seam attack, probably!
If the conditions demand so, India shouldn’t mind playing 5 seamers in the Tests.
Dhoni, in the past, has played an all seam attack and with the onus of Zaheer Khan in the team, the bowling line-up will get the much needed moral boost up.
