Well, ‘Mahi’ was angry at the ‘hurtful’ decision that saw the ICC hand a fine to Ravindra Jadeja over the James Anderson spat. Dhoni has pledged his full support to the all-rounder stating that Jadeja was amongst the innocent party in the incident involving England’s James Anderson.
In his pre-match press conference, Dhoni stated that Jadeja received some foul language and physical assault from the English player; although the Indian skipper did not name Anderson but it was quite clear it was the pacer.
An ICC statement read, “Jadeja was fined 50 percent of his match fee, but not banned, by the International Cricket Council after being found guilty on Friday of “conduct contrary to the spirit of the game”, for an incident with Anderson that took place when walking off as a batsman during the lunch break on the second day of the drawn first Test in Nottingham on July 10.”
It’s quite evident that Dhoni is not happy with the decision handed out to Jadeja. In the past, Indians have been on the receiving end of some controversial events basically the one being the 2008 in Perth involving Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds.
Dhoni has never been a vociferous person, whether be it on or off the field but the former’s ‘outburst’ is quite evident reflecting the mood in the Indian camp. They are unhappy, sad but also in a revenge mode. Everytime Team India has been involved in such controversial cases; they have bound to bounce back with a victory. The Lord’s victory was sweet but now the challenge gets tougher.
Even though India lead the five-match series with England 1-0 after a 95-run win in the second Test at Lord’s on Monday, there are still 3 more matches to played. The 3rd Test kick starts from 27th July at the Aegas Rose Bowl with conditions aptly supporting the batsmen as well as the bowler.
