It’s Mohammed Shami and NOT Shami Ahmed!
In an interview to a daily newspaper, Mohammed Shami mentioned that he did not know about an ‘extra surname’. He said, “I don’t know how my name got that tail. I’m Mohammed Shami, not Shami Ahmed.”
He hails from a small town
If Indian skipper MS Dhoni had a fairytale start to his career (hailing from Ranchi), Mohammed Shami too scripts the same. Shami hails from Sahaspur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district and it was his family’s support that he has reached so far. Bengal is his ‘adopted’ home.
He believes in hard work
During his early days as a budding cricketer, Shami used to carry home a dozen of old, torn balls and then bowl with those on the matting turfs of Moradabad, his home town.
Pacers in the family
Mohammed Shami was one of the four brothers that wanted to pursue their career as fast bowlers. Amongst them, however, Shami is the quickest!
