The resurgence of young players in the sport of cricket is back!
India is witnessing a massive overhaul of older cricketers who are seeking retirement and leaving their footsteps behind for youngsters to follow in.
IPL has seen some of the freshest, hand-picked talent the IPL has seen in recent years. Most of these players would have been overlooked had it not been for the inclusion of Indian Premier League in the BCCI annual roster of events.
From Virat Kohli to Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, all these players started out really young in the sport to attain their niche in the game. Just like Virat, a new kid on the block has finally been awarded his first IPL cap at a very tender age – Sarafaraz Khan hailing from Mumbai.
Youngest IPL Player Tag
Sarafaraz Khan who is just 17-years old has now created history by becoming the youngest ever cricketer to play in the Indian Premier League when he took the field for his team Royal Challengers Bangaloreled by Virat Kohli in the match against Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on 22nd April 2015.
During the IPL auctions inFebruary, Sarafaraz was adjudged the youngest player ever to feature in an IPL auction. He was selected by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 50 lakh.
At just 17 years and 177 days, Sarafaraz has now replaced Delhi’s fiery seamer Pradeep Sangwan who was also 17 (17 years, 179 days) when he made his debut in the IPL.
However, last week, reports were rife in the media that Sarfaraz was embroiled in an off-the-field scuffle with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Robin Uthappa right after the match got over between RCB and KKR at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. No complaints have been made to the match referee Javagal Srinath as of yet.
We just hope this player makes the most of his prime age and not make any silly mistakes like his captain of getting verbally or physically involved in scumbag techniques… play like a gentleman!
All the best for your cricketing future from the team of Youngisthan!
