Champions from cricketing corners might be well known for their star players but there are a few, who have also made a mark on the world stage. Who are they, well let’s find out as we feature the 5 unknown who can brighten up the CLT20 stage:
Daryl Mitchell (Northern Knights – New Zealand)
The Northern Knights came into this tournament via the qualifiers stage but at the end of the stage, they were the ones who left one and all impressed. Most of the players are New Zealand internationals but amongst them is Daryl Mitchell. This 23-year old is an all-rounder who can also hit massive sixes out of the park. This young lad is one for the future in the Kiwi side.
Ashton Agar (Perth Scorchers – Australia)
Remember Agar who scored that unbelievable century on Test debut against England in the Ashes last year. Well, the hero from that game is here in the Perth Scorchers team but this time donning the T20 colours. The spinner, who can bat as well, will be looking to take his side ahead in the final stages of the CLT20.
Dane Vilas (Cape Cobras – South Africa)
South Africa have been blessed with world class wicket-keepers over the years and amongst them is Dane Vilas. The 29-year old is yet to get the international nod but may be some strong performances in the CLT20 could elevate the chances of playing for the country.
Rishi Dhawan (Kings XI Punjab – India)
After impressing in the last Ranji season for Himachal Pradesh, all-rounder Rishi Dhawan is back amongst the T20 fold as he will be representing the Kings XI Punjab in the CLT20. Rishi had a satisfactory India-A tournament Down Under but if the former strikes gold in this year’s mega event, selectors’ beckoning is on the horizon.
Pawan Negi (Chennai Super Kings – India)
This Delhi-born youngster might find it hard to break into the star-studded CSK team but Pawan Negi has got in him to give MS Dhoni selection headaches. Slow left-arm orthodox, Negi could be vital on Indian pitches where spinners get the most assistance. Watch out for Pawan Negi, a superstar in the making!
