In a remarkable turnaround of events, Pakistan’s T20 champions Faisalabad Wolves are all set to travel India to participate in the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20), after getting visas to play in the tournament. Just a day ago, the T20 team was denied visas due to the political tension between the two nations at the moment. It is learnt that the BCCI had a say in allowing the visas to the Pakistani team which will be led by Pakistani Test skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq.
With the Faisalabad Wolves participation in the CLT20, has the BCCI healed the cracks that were present between India and Pakistan? Lest to forget, the 26/11 attacks are still afresh in everybody’s mind and the Government of both the nations have yet to come to a conclusion. Whenever it’s India and Pakistan, the politicians too play their part. During the 2011 ICC World Cup semi-final, the Prime Ministers of both the nations were invited to watch the epic rivalry.
Pakistan loves playing against India. It’s not just the eyeballs it grabs but the money the PCB generates by playing their arch rivals. It must be for this reason that the PCB is hoping to convince the Indian Board to host a tri-series later this year when the officials from the two boards come face to face during an Asian Cricket Council meeting.
The Faisalabad players are currently training in Lahore and will leave for India on Saturday. If the ‘move’ of Pak team playing in India turns out to be a success, who deserves the credit? The players or the Government officials?
