With the Aussies in the driver’ seat in the ongoing ODI series against India, they are keen to wrap up the series as quickly as possible. As the next match moves to Jamtha, Aussie spinner Xavier Doherty expressed his team’s thoughts.
“We have come here to win this game and we’re not worried too much about Bangalore (venue of last game on November 2). At the moment we are worried about winning this game and wrapping it up on Wednesday,” Doherty spoke to the press after the team’s training session.
“From our point of view this is the game we want to win. We don’t want to save it for the last game on Sunday. We want to wrap up this game. Obviously from their (India’s) point of view they need to win to stay alive and from that point, it is pretty crucial for them. We would rather be 3-1 up than 2-2 all. Both teams have played some very good cricket and it will be about who is better on Wednesday,” he added.
Team India go into this match in a must win situation as they seek to level up the series. MS Dhoni’s men are struggling as a bowling unit but in cricket, anything can change. Mahi will need all the luck as possible to win the series or face the ignominy of defeat from the Men from Down Under.
