With a lot at stake, bottom placed Mumbai Indians face an uphill task when they take on a resurgent Sunrisers Hyderabad in an Indian Premier League encounter on Monday. Having just won just two games so far, this Mumbai side cannot afford to lose any further if they are to reach the semis. But standing in their way are the mighty Sunrisers who have an impressive track record on home ground after their entry into the IPL last year. The Hyderabad side is already in the top half of the table having won four out of the eight matches played so far.
Rohit Sharma’s side had comprehensive victories against the mighty Kings XI Punjab and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, but failed in the hat trick of wins as the Men in Blue faltered against the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede stadium. Skipper Rohit Sharma and West Indian powerhouse Kieron Pollard have come good as well as Chidambaram Gautam who has pulled off a few surprises with his big hits. Mumbai though might have missed the services of Zaheer Khan in the last game who is nursing an injury and it’s down to the heavyweights like Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha and Praveen Kumar to deliver something special.
On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan’s Sunrisers are buoyed by their victories against the Delhi Daredevils and the Rajasthan Royals. The batting still lacks the punch with Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner and Aaron Finch yet to hit the high scores. In the last game against the Rajasthan Royals, it was their bowling that did the trick. The dangerous Dale Steyn, young Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Karn Sharma, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma, Moises Henriques and Irfan Pathan, however, have been giving in consistent performances.
Mumbai has got a complete package whereas the Sunrisers are yet to deliver with the bat. If the latter fail to impress, Mumbai can get a boost in the IPL table.
