Rohit Sharma last night signed off on a brilliant note as the skipper of the Mumbai Indians as they rounded off 2013 with a CLT20 trophy (add to it an IPL title). The most pleasing factor for the Mumbai batsman will be that his bat is still doing the talking. In a presser after the match, Rohit said, “Modern cricket is such that you cannot lock your place. I am ready for last six years to play in all three formats. Hopefully, I will get an opportunity soon.”
Rohit Sharma has been in top form, as far as ODI is concerned, since his debut as an opener in the Champions Trophy along with Shikhar Dhawan. Though he has been overshadowed by his opening partner in terms of scoring tons, Rohit has matured enough and his stroke-making has improved tremendously. From the beginning of the Champions Trophy till the last ODI against Zimbabwe, Rohit has gone onto make six fifties.

Many ex-Indian cricketers touted the ‘Shikhar-Rohit’ partnership as the next big thing, some even went onto say that this duo can replace the ‘Viru-Gauti’ partnership. But many will admire the qualities the right handed batsman has shown this CLT20 tournament. Be it batting, fielding, captaincy; Rohit Sharma has really marked himself as a top notch this 2013. With the Australia ODI series coming up shortly, the real test lies in how Sharma shows up. The seven-ODI games will tell that if Rohit is really coming of age and ready to lead the opening batting!
