The Delhi Daredevils captain suffered a big jolt ahead of their IPL campaign as the former was ruled out with a finger injury thus ruling him out of the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The USD 1.5 million (Rs 9 crore) man, had sustained this injury on his right hand little finger during fielding drills with Surrey at The Oval last month and it seems, it has got the better of him.
What a shocker is this for the dashing batsman! After a disastrous outing Down Under, the England Cricket Board (ECB) sacked him and due that, ‘KP’ will be available for a full IPL season for the first time. So what about the rumours of Pietersen playing a ‘villianous’ role in the dressing room? DD coach Eric Simons says, “”The relationship that he (Pietersen) has with the players has a very positive influence on the team from a cricketing perspective and the team culture.” So take that you Poms!
The Delhi Daredevils will surely miss his services and now with Dinesh Karthik given the mantle, not sure if the latter will be the right man to lead under these circumstances. Get that – Kevin Pietersen has a point to prove and if he succeeds (with the added responsibility of being a skipper), imagine the reaction of the ECB and English players.
KP must be itching to get out there but currently it’s not his time.
