After a morale boosting win over arch-rivals Pakistan, the Men In Blue take on the defending champions of T20, West Indies in the second group game. Even though these players know each other very well (IPL), on the cricketing field, they are still competitors. West Indies are full of power hitters and here are a list of players that MS Dhoni should be wary off:
Chris Gayle
The Indian bowling contingent might need a ‘special’ talent to ward off the threats of this man – Christopher Charles Gayle. The T20 specialist is known to bludgeon the cricket ball as if it was playing golf and Indian bowlers out of form, Gayle will be just waiting in anticipation for this contest to begin. Dhoni and co. will have a plan at helm for Gayle and the latter will really up for it!
Dwayne Smith
Another of the hard-hitting West Indies T20 specialist batsmen, Dwayne Smith has proven that he ain’t no pushover. The Indian team are familiar with Smith (Indian Premier League) and surely might have devised some plan for the lanky all-rounder.
Marlon Samuels
The West Indies middle-order is filled with talented batsmen and one of the name features – Marlon Samuels. He can provide skipper Darren Sammy with spin option to, if needed, and when Samuels hits the ball, it usually lands outside the park.
Sunil Narine
‘The Mystery Spinner’, Sunil Narine can trick the Indian batsmen with his spin and leave them in tatters. The Bangladeshi conditions will be assisting the spinners and if Narine has his day, Indian batting is in for a long day ahead.
All in all, West Indies might be favourites according to some but if the Indian spinners come to the party, then the likes of Chris Gayle and company might have to feel the heat. The India team is buoyed by the previous win over Pakistan and would like to repeat the same heroics against the West Indies but should be a cracker of a game!
