India vs. Australia 2014: Should Virat Kohli Be Warned Of Peter Siddle’s ‘Thug Antics’?

India vs Australia 2014 – India and Virat Kohli might be enjoying the winning moments against Sri Lanka as of now but come December, a tough tour of Australia awaits them.

India and Virat Kohli might be enjoying the winning moments against Sri Lanka as of now but come December, a tough tour of Australia awaits them.

Back in 2011, the Oz pacers ran through the Indian line-up with much ease and are hoping to repeat the antics again.

But with MS Dhoni out of the 1st Test, India’s stand-in skipper will be Virat Kohli and it will be refreshing to see the young Delhi turk hold the mantle of leading the side.

Held by many critics as the future skipper, this is the best chance for Virat to portray his talented skills, not just with the bat but also with the brains. But waiting in the wings are the Aussie pacers who have already delivered the warning signs to the talented batsman.

One of them being paceman Peter Siddle who has wasted little time throwing a psychological taunt at India’s stand-in skipper Virat Kohli saying that the Indian could expect a ruthless reception from players and fans on tour Down Under.

Yes, that’s correct!

Last time India toured here, Virat’s batting was the only talking point but the former was also in the news for his ‘raised finger’ to the crowd that did not go down well. The 1st Test is held at Brisbane’s Gabba where the English all-rounder Stuart Broad received an unsavoury welcome he would never forget in the opening Test of the Ashes series last year and that could be in line for Kohli as well.

“He’ll be up for it and no doubt we will be. I’m sure the crowd will be right behind us, backing us up and putting a lot of pressure on him. He’ll be up for it and no doubt we will be. I’m sure the crowd will be right behind us, backing us up and putting a lot of pressure on him,” said Peter Siddle to the press.

Kohli was fined half his match fee at the Sydney Cricket Ground for making an offensive hand gesture at them during the 2011-12 Oz tour and repeated mistakes could land the former in hot waters.

There was “probably not” a worse place than the Gabba for a foreigner to play their first Test as captain, Siddle said. “The Gabba crowd gets a bit rowdy. I’ve played a few games up there for Victoria and it’s been hard work. So I can’t imagine playing an international there when everyone’s against you. I’m sure it’ll be tough for him, but any game when it’s your first Test as captain is going to be a tough contest. No doubt we’ll make it a lot of hard work for him,” he added.

But our Indian batting sensation is unfazed by such moments.

29 Tests and 1855 runs, ‘Chikoo’ has better things to look and perhaps the only way to silence the Gabba crowd is by raising the bat (of a centurion) and not the finger!
