‘The Master of Spin’, Australian bowler Shane Warne celebrates his 44th birthday today. We take a look at his best performances with the ball in Tests that have left the opposition batsmen bamboozled!

7/52 vs. West Indies, Melbourne, 1992
Australia and West Indies shared a great rivalry with both batsmen and bowlers putting in their best performances on the pitch. In the 2nd test at the MCG, Shane Warne’s 7/52 in the 2nd innings proved to be a match winning one as the Aussies won the test comfortably. ‘Warnie’ even walked away with the Man of the Match award.

8/71 vs. England, Brisbane, 1995
The Ashes rivalry between the English and the Aussies have been a treat to watch over the years. In the 1st test at the Brisbane Cricket ground, the Oz dominated with the bat and the ball in the 1st innings as they bundled out the Poms very cheaply. Aussies set a target of 508 to chase and the English batsmen had a roaring start. In walked Shane Warne and his spell of 8/71 left the English batsmen grounded as the Oz brought home the trophy.

7/94 vs. Pakistan, Colombo, 2002
During the 1st test of the Pak-Aus series in Colombo, Australia won the toss and chose to bat first. The batsmen posted a massive total of 467 and Pakistani batsmen failed miserably,  all thanks to the spinning wizardry of Shane Warne.

12/246 vs. England, Oval, 2005
Even though the Aussies went on to lose the Ashes to the English, the only standout for the former  in the series was Shane Warne. His 12 wickets in 5th test was one of the best ever on English soil.
