The Aussies posted a massive target of 359 which was ‘easily’ chased down by the Indian batsmen in the 2nd ODI at Jaipur on Wednesday. Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and then Virat Kohli tamed the Aussie pacers as Team India run victors in the game in mere 43.3 overs to draw the series level. This epic run-chase has still got Aussies going bonkers with Oz skipepr George Bailey saying that he is still quite ‘surprised’ at the way the Indians chased down a mammoth of 362.
Talking to the press after the game, Bailey said, “Am I surprised that they got 362 in 43 overs, yeah, absolutely mate, that was phenomenal. I am still surprised that a couple of days later, that was a phenomenal batting performance. Absolutely we spoke (after the Jaipur game) and we speak after every game whether we win or lose, we always go through and dissect and have a look at what we could do differently.”
Bailey does not want to criticise his bowlers right away. “Personally, I like to back the group we have,” the 31-year-old right-hander told a pre-match press conference at the PCA stadium here. “I want to give them chance that they can get on top of that Indian batting line-up,” he added.
The location shifts to Mohali and with another belter of a pitch expected there, Bailey and his bowlers have to up the ante to have any say in this series.
