It was England’s second victory inside three days in as many matches after they thrashed India by an innings and 54 runs to win the fourth Test at Old Trafford.
Team India’s capitulation was done and dusted when the visitors collapsed on 94 all out, an even worse effort than their meagre first innings 148, after Joe Root’s unbeaten 149 had powered England to 486.
The Indian team started their downfall well and early as opener Murali Vijay was out leg before to James Anderson while southpaw Gautam Gambhir, who had struggled for his three runs, was run out by Chris Woakes’s direct hit.
Sorry to say but this could be the last Test for Gambhir on overseas shores as the Delhi opener failed to impress.

Joe Root was named man-of-the-match for his brilliant century while James Anderson walked away with the man of the series award. India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar was awarded the India’s man-of-the-series award, nominated by England coach, Peter Moores.
“We’ve lost a lot of confidence over the five-Test series, it is disappointing, there will be many experiences which the youngsters will learn – not too many have played Tests away from home and hopefully they can take that it into the future. This abject surrender and a gutless fight shown by the Indian Test team shows that this team is NOT destined to win on away tours! Team India, firstly, needs a recheck and it must begin from that corrupted BCCI!
