5 Reasons Why Sourav ‘˜Dada’ Ganguly Is The Best Coach For Team India

After India’s humiliating defeat against England in the 5-Test series, former skipper turned commentator, Sourav Ganguly came down heavily on the MS Dhoni-led team.

The Bengal-born cricketer blasted the Indian team and said it was high time for the selectors to take some harsh decisions following the embarrassing 3-1 Test series defeat.

Ganguly stated that team had shown “no effort, no heart, no fight.” In the wake of such disastrous performances overseas, Team India coach Duncan Fletcher’s role has been questioned by ex-cricketers and calls for ‘sack’ are doing rounds.

Even though the Zimbabwean’s contract ends in World Cup 2015, such abysmal performances must be put to an end and that’s why we recommend Sourav Ganguly as the former’s replacement.

Ganguly’s ‘dadagiri’ can turn India’s fortunes upside down and here’s why:

1 – Vocal figure in the dressing room
Sourav is not the ‘very nice’ person one would want to come across! During his playing days, Sourav always gave back to the opponent, be it verbally or not. If Ganguly is elected as the coach, MS Dhoni and men are in for a severe dressing-down!

2 – Strategically apt
When Ganguly was the skipper in his hey days; the field set-up, bowling line-up, selection policy etc. were bang on target. No wonder ‘Dada’ was one of India’s successful captains ever. Team India can blossom under the guileful partnership of Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni.

3 – Attack minded persona
Team India’s current performances were gutless and lacked attack and penetration. The batsmen did not stand up for the cause and that’s the reason, Dhoni’s men were left reeling in the recently concluded series. Ganguly is an attack minded person and if he comes to power as a coach, be sure of the fact that Team India can just attack, attack and only attack! Never mind the declaration.

4 – Guide youngies like Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara
Indian batsmen Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara were off the place in the Test series against England where the duo were caught napping at the crease. The England pace department got the better of Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara and that’s why Team India underperformed. But if the ‘god of offside’ comes in, be sure of change in fortunes for the young batsmen. Kohli and Pujara, too, are good on the offiside and voila, that’s a match made in heaven.

5- A bowler’s coach
Sourav Ganguly may have amassed runs from the willow but the former was also a wicket-taking bowler. 32 wickets in 113 Tests, ‘Dada’ often got the better of the batsmen on green top pitches or slow wickets. With him around, the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Varun Aaron are in for a special coaching. Ganguly can guide the bowlers on the lines, lengths and design a specific strategy for a new batsman.

Sourav Ganguly has a strong will power which can hand a boost to this ailing side. At present, the BCCI has appointed Ravi Shastri as the ‘team director’ but in the long term, Ganguly’s appointment can be beneficiary for the board (BCCI) as well as the team.
