A good meal eaten is the one where you do not have to ask for a toothpick afterwards, won’t you agree?
Everyone loves eating; after all, it is one of the factors keeping humans alive. But certain foods possess characteristics that get you thinking about their purpose of existence, thanks to their habit of being a ‘pain between your teeth’.
Dentists often advice people to keep away from certain foods as their teeth are vulnerable.
Here is a list of foods that stick to teeth, but you still won’t give them up as they are delectable and bring you the much-needed gastronomic satisfaction –
Spinach
Popeye is the first word that comes to one’s mind when they think of spinach. The cartoon character ate his spinach got ripped and beat the living daylights out of the antagonist Bluto. Adults like spinach, but it has the disadvantage of at times getting stuck between teeth. Paint a picture where you are talking with your crush and inadvertently have a fibre of spinach showing.
Dried Fruits
Nobody usually shies away from having a handful of dried fruits to eat. For fact, they have different components that have individual health benefits. However, they are too sugary and sticky, too and get stuck between the teeth of one does not eat them carefully.
Popcorn
Here we paint a picture again. Accompanied by your date, you are at the theatre to catch on a flick you believe the two of you will love. You buy popcorn to keep you occupied while the movie goes on. Caution: Never eat popcorn too much. They easily get stuck in the narrow gaps between your teeth. Other than that, they also lead to halitosis, which is the medical term for bad breath.
Cadbury Eclairs
Cadbury Eclairs is one confectionery no one dislikes. But everyone must have experienced how irritating it is when it gets stuck between the teeth. You need to have long nails or a toothpick in hand to get rid of the ‘leftover’ sandwiched between your pearly whites.
Any Food Involving Caramel
Caramel is infamous for being extra sticky and often causes cavity resulting in bad teeth. If you have eaten caramel apples, you know they cling to teeth in a fashion that nobody likes. They also affect one’s oral health adversely.
Candies
Candies are flavourful. However, here is its downside. Candies not only take longer to dissolve but their sugar sticks to your teeth, too, in the process causing damage to your enamel. Since they dissolve slowly, the time gives bacteria to multiply at a faster rate.
Chips
Whether you prefer eating potato chips or banana chips, you know you will have to spend some time afterwards cleaning your teeth with a toothpick.
There are instances when they not only get stuck between the teeth, but hurt your gums or inner walls of the mouth, too.
