Just when we thought that the masala heroine was silencing her fashion critics with her sartorial choices, she does this white disaster and makes us shake our heads in horror. Well, here’s what’s wrong with her lacy outfit. Read on:
The outfit:
We aren’t big fans of the lace dress itself. The neon-esque white is making Sona look darker than she is. Perhaps that’s why white is considered such a tricky colour as it can either elevate your looks or pull you down the drain…like this appearance. The length of the dress is bit of an issue too, we wish it were a tiny bit longer. May be then it wouldn’t have looked so tacktastic. We are not sure if she was going for ‘peppy’ with her outfit, but it sure looks like she miscalculated and ended up looking frumpy. In fact, the little lace dress is something very few Indians can carry off as we just don’t have the skin tone for it.
Make-up and hair:
The right foundation and lips and eyes are crucial when doing white. It’s such a complicated shade, despite its dullness, that it can make you look either washed out or too dark. Sona definitely falls in the latter category as her blotchy make-up with traces of white/silver eyeshadow is making her look tanned and burnt. Fresh-faced look with a smidgen of gloss (or red lips) would have been ideal for this outfit. And when you’re sporting a dress this overwhelming (what with that eyesore of a necklace), you should NOT go for big hair. Simply not. An elegant pony or simple side-swept hair would have looked a lot better than waves.
Accessories:
If she really wanted to pair her dress with chunky stuff, she should have opted for long chains in silver instead of this beaded horror from Atelier Mon. The necklace is doing nothing to the dress and we are still wondering what made her wear it. If that wasn’t enough, she decided to go for blinding white pumps and a Dior bejewelled bag. It would have been so much better if she had sported a pair of nude/peach/rose pumps instead on these. And the bag? Let’s not even talk about it…especially, about those strings.
