It was just another rainy evening. Me with a few of my friends were sitting at a nearby coffe shop and sipping onto hot cappuccino with onion bhajiya (we’d got that from a nearby vada pao vendor), talking about life and how had it shaped up, as compared to our college days.

Though we all had a job, we were not satisfied (yes, I know it does not end at having just a job). Suddenly one of us suggested we apply for higher education without wasting much time. And the conversation shifted to which B-school is better than the other. What we realized later was that, nobody said we should go for MBA, yet what everyone had in mind was the same.

A Master in Business Administration is widely believed to be one of the most prestigious and sought after degrees in not just India but around the world. Earning an MBA is regarded as a way to higher salary, a position in management and marketability in an ever evolving job market. There are a number of career options you could pursue with a degree in MBA. Here are a few of them.

Investment Banking

One of the most traditional and worthwhile career options after MBA, investment banking has been the topmost priority of the MBA genre. The work of an investment banker involves raising capital and advicing others on acquisitions, which is why though it is a high pressure job, you have a fair chance to apply all he knowledge you acquired during MBA.

Management Consulting

Problem solving is one of the major responsibilites of a management consultant. You either work with a provate firm or could work as a freelancer as well.

Venture Capitalist

For a recent MBA graduate, the private equity or venture capital market is a challenging prospect. It offers the opportunity to exercise many of the skills developed during your study while working in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment that has the potential to be extremely rewarding financially.

Analyst

Going through the preciseness of a B-school curriculum, you will be required to use your experience in solving or analysing case studies and gaining financial knowledge. Analysts are generally hired for solving the problems concerning financial matters of the company.

You could also pursue a career in HR management or lectureship post the completion of your degree. A degree in MBA quite frequently leads to upper managerial positions in an organization.
