Eligiblity
As you’d have guessed, taking science in HSC as your major is a must if you see yourself as a forensic scientist, eight years down the line. Students, who study medical science have better chances in this career, as you need to carry out an analysis of the crime scene, proofs and other miniature relevant things. This field is also open for the students of BA or BSc, as you can do a post graduation in forensic science.
Job Prospects
Forensic science requires handling lots of pressure from a number of other departments, e.g. police, judiciary, administration, etc. Once done with your studies, you can find employment with law enforcement agencies, police, investigative services of the government, Patho labs, Anthropological labs etc.
A majority of trained forensic scientists are hired by the Intelligence Bureau, Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) etc. Incase, you don’t feel like taking the crime scene work, you could also take up teaching forensic science in institutes that offer course on it.
Pros and Cons
P- Once you’re experienced, you could start up a detective agency all by yourself, job is satisfying as you work for justice.
C- Limited job options as private investigating agencies haven’t flourished yet, odd working hours, crime scene investigation could be tiring and emotionally draining.
