The Volkswagen Taigun is a SUV based on the new ‘˜Small Family Platform’ structure. Expected to hit the Indian roads by August 2014, this car flaunts a stylish design, good engine, and many advanced features.
Showcased at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in 2012 and the Auto Expo in New Delhi this year, the Volkswagen Taigun is the German manufacturer’s reply to the other SUVs in the market. Based on the PQ12 – the new ‘Small Family Platform’ structure, this SUV would compete with Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano, and more.

Design, Built & Exteriors:
With oodles of style, the Volkswagen Taigun Exteriors exude grandiosity. With an enthralling orange shade, especially for the Indian market, the car flaunts a wheelbase of 2.47meters. 3,859mm in length, 1,728mm in width, and 1,570mm in height, the design & built of the car is quite alluring.
This sub-4-meter SUV boasts of a sleek radiator grille, a headlight cluster equipped with high intensity LED lights,bumper with silver-coated protective cladding, set of smart 17-inch alloy wheels, and more. However, these features are only an indicative, and the end product may vary.
Interiors:
The Volkswagen Taigun Interiors with its enhanced features seem equally enticing. This spacious car, blessed with extra headroom, foldable rear seats, and height adjustable driver seat, will surely be one of the comfortable SUVs. Equipped with air conditioning system with heater, power windows with one touch operation, a power steering system with tilt function, touch screen interface to control multiple functions like Bluetooth, Audio Player & Sat-Nav Unit, leather wrapped steering wheel, and more, the Volkswagen Taigun features are certainly attractive.
Engine & Performance:
This suave car, powered by a new 1.0-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine guarantees 108Bhp power & 175Nm of torque at 1750rpm, making it an ideal vehicle for driving within cities offering an overall pleasant ride. This lightweight fuel-efficient car, weighing only 985kg will give a mileage of around 22kmpl, which is pretty decent for a vehicle of this type.
We expect this engine, based on Turbocharged Stratified Injection, to give good acceleration and pickup. We foresee it providing a top speed of about 186 Kmph. The automobile giant also claims that this SUV would accelerate to 100kmph from a standstill in 9.2 seconds.
Price:
The expected Volkswagen Taigun Price range is about 10 lakhs to 11 lakhs.
With its stylish design and a powerful engine, this car surely promises to give tough competition to the other players in the market. However, with a high cost of ownership, we would have to wait till its launch in August this year to see how well the Indian buyers accept this all-new product from the house of Volkswagen.
