Tata Motors is all-geared up, with many launches. With the Tata Zest and Tata Bolt entering the Indian Auto Market soon, the ace car manufacturer has exciting plans for the next year too.
With an aim to compete with the current bestsellers – Maruti Celerio and Ford Figo, the automobile giant will get its new offering – the Tata Kite during the festive season in 2015.
As per a newspaper report, Tata will manufacture this ‘small car’ at its Sanand plant in Gujarat. The company looks forward to regain its position in the compact car segment with this model.
According to sources, the Sanand plant would concentrate on this new car and would roll out at least 1,50,000 units of Tata Kite annually out of its total production capacity of 2,50,000 units.
An official close to the development project said, “The Company is looking at the vast potential as its current models like Indica cannot serve the small car market and Nano has not achieved the desired results. Kite would be placed in between the Nano and the Indica.”
With the aging Indica and the Nano which came with a bang but was nothing more than a whimper, Tata now relies on this new model to make its presence felt among the B segment cars which make up for 30 percent of the total car sales in the country.
The Tata Kite is the company’s initiative under its Horizonext 2020 Strategy, whereby it aspires to bring new products, and launch face lifts of its existing models to churn some desirable profits.
We expect Tata to build the car on an extensively modified version of the platform used by Indica. As for the Tata Kite exteriors, the only information that we have currently, is that Tata would erect this car on its ‘Tall Boy Design’, just like the prevalent Nano.
Though there is no update on the Tata Kite features, we wish to see this new offering to possess some alluring Tata Kite interiors.
There is no news on the Tata Kite price as yet. But we expect it would be cheaper than the Indica but dearer as compared to the Nano.
With most of the Tata cars not performing as per the company’s expectations, it is difficult to predict the fate of the Kite.
However, we assume that the car manufacturer has learnt from its past blunders and it would not repeat them with Kite!
