Porsche celebrates Porsche Club of America’s 60th Anniversary in style. Puts up commemorative 911 GTS club coupe in stunning Club Blau for 60 lucky buyers.
No one celebrates an anniversary better than Porsche!
The German automobile juggernaut is celebrating its 60th anniversary of the Porsche Club of America in style and swag!
The club was founded on July 27 1955 by a group of Porsche enthusiasts. To honour the undying spirit and dedication of these enthusiasts towards their brand, Porsche have introduced a special edition commemorative model of their famous GTS series, a 911 GTS Club Coupe. However, it will be available only to members of the Porsche Club of America, as brownie points.
This edition is super special, why?
Because only 60 iterations of this model will be made for PCA members. The price of the car is kept at a staggering $136,060 (INR 84lakhs) and the car will be available to the buyers in June this year. Only 59 cars will go up for the sale, the last one is kept as a show-car prize for the lucky PCA member winning the lucky draw.
“We are proud and honoured to celebrate this anniversary with a very special edition of Porsche’s most storied sports car – the 911. The Porsche Club of America is home to passionate ambassadors who have been fostering the appreciation and recognition of Porsche for 60 years,” said Andre Oosthuizen, Vice President of Marketing for Porsche Cars in North America, during the car unveiling ceremony at Porsche’s new headquarters, One Porsche Drive in Atlanta.
The Exterior And The Specs
The new body is 44 mm wider than the regular 911 Carrera 4 models featuring a rear wheel drive. The car is painted in an exquisite shade of blue (Club Blau) with some vintage touches. Under the hood is a monstrous 430-horsepower engine that goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds! Other fittings are similar to the regular Carerra911 GTS, but the catch is that they will all be decked in this unique blue overall. The other cobalt shade is adorned with black frames enveloping the bi-xenon headlights and black chrome exhaust outlets. The car features a vintage duck-tail rear spoiler and sports 20-inch Sport Classic wheels with polished wheel-centers, similar to the classic Fuchs wheels on older 911s.
The Plush Interiors
Interior wise, the seats, seat belts and tachometer are all offset in a classy red called Carmine Red. The dashboard and centre console features rugged carbon fibre. For the commemoration part, a plaque is affixed near the glove-box reading “GTS Club – Coupe 60 Years – Porsche Club of America”. The steering wheel is also different and has a Red ‘12 o’clock’ marker with two-tone stitching done in Carmine Red and Blue. The stainless steel door sills also read “GTS Club Coupe” to heighten the exclusiveness of this special model.
The Launch
The GTS Club Coupe will be launched in the United States during June 2015. PCA members have already seen a glimpse of the car in action at the Daytona 24 rally. Porsche Club of America members, are already gearing up for the release, and gunning to win the display model, to get lucky and score two cars with one shot.
Official details of the release will be announced by Porsche Club of America on February 1st, 2015 at www.pca.org
