Sweet tooth, in-budget international cuisines, perfect ambience, perfect place to hangout with friends or otherwise- you get all of these in Candies. Where most of the fancy coffee shop chains serves only a limited number of food items on the menu, Candies offers you around three hundred and thirty dishes in multiple cuisines, everyday.
A cozy spot to chill, Candies in Bandra, is very popular among Mumbaikars. Started, as not-so-big bakery shop about twenty five years ago, it now has three branches in Mumbai. The owner, Allan Pereira, named this ancestral property after his daughter Candice. The seating arrangement includes that on the ground floor and terrace. Also, while visiting this place, I am sure, you will not be able to stop admiring the potrait on the wall. Surprisingly, the potraits have been painted by the owner himself!
I visited the place with a couple of my friends. The restaurant offers a number of mini meals which includes dishes like lasagnes, biryani, nuggets served with bread of your choice and salad; my personal favourite being Mandarin Pesto salad. In the non-veg menu the Goan fish/Prawn curry with rice is mouth watering.
Even after visiting the place a couple of times, I can suggest only the dishes that has a salty flavour. As for the desserts, everytime I get to experience a new flavour- be it cupcake, muffin, cheese cake or pudding. Though, I don’t really have a sweet tooth, I never miss their Red Velvet Cupcake; something I could kill for.
The crowd here, mainly comprises of college goers. They also have a home delivery service in between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Guess the owner realises the value of Sunday, for students, which is why Candies remains closed on Mondays.
