The end of the month is almost here and you don’t really have a budget to splash on expensive recipes. The Ghar ka khaana doesn’t seem to be even close to pacify your cravings. In a place like Mumbai, how much ever you try to stick to your food budget(including travel charges), you end up spending more. So, we help you satiate your taste buds, in a budget that suits you the best.
Chicken Patty at PAC, Tardeo
You would have had chicken patties like a number of times until today. But try one at the Parsi Amelioration Commitee at Tardeo. They are as small as pies and the buttery sweet thing stuffed with a creamy chicken filling is a melts-in-your-mouth snack to have. Price- Rs. 25
Gujarati Thali at Golden Star Restaurant, Charni Road
If you are a die hard fan of Gujarati or Rajasthani cuisines, then this is the place for you. The Golden Star Restaurant not only serves authentic Rajasthani and Gujrati food, but also has a facility of serving lunch boxes during office hours. The dabba consists of two seets, farsans, sabzi, five phulkas, kadhi, rice, papad, salad and mukhwas. Price- Rs. 135
Puri Bhaji at Cafe Mysore, Matunga
Don’t go by the name. ‘Course you might visit this place for Dosas, Idlis and other South Indian specialities. But do not miss their puri bhaji. Try it with their special garlic chutney and you’ll thank me for the suggestion. Price- Rs. 60 (puri, bhaji and chutney)
Kayani’s, Marine Lines
For people who thrive on non-veg food- try the keema pav. I am sure just one plate will not satisfy your craving. For the vegetarians, I would suggest, Maska pav with Irani chai is a must have. Apart from that the Aloo Tikki burger is savouring. For those who love eggs, do not miss their Bhurji Pav.
Tandoori Chicken from Khane Khaas, Bandra
Your love for Tandoori Chicken will aggravate when you have this evenly roasted chicken which is all succulent and juicy from inside and crispy outside. And then you can thank me for letting you know about the place (wink). Price- Rs. 160 to Rs. 360 (varying on the size)
Dosa Plaza, Nerul
If you happen to be in that part of the city, make sure you visit this place. About 104 varieties of dosa on the menu, they serve a fusion of Indian with: Mexican, Lebanese, Chinese and Italian. My personal favourite is Mexican Roast. Price- Rs. 240 (maximum amount on the menu)
Pishu’s Cheese Pizza, Lokhandwala
You might have had pizzas from Dominos, Pizza Hut or Joey’s. But try a cheese pizza at Pishu’s. The herb and garlic flavoured dough, as thin as flatbread, polished with a melted layer of mozarella and dusted with oregano and chilli flakes is sure to melt in your mouth. Price: Rs. 99
Let us know if you tried the dishes suggested. And don’t forget to thanks us as well (wink). Do let us know of more places like these in the comments below. Enjoy!
