You might have come across India’s inventions and the discovering of “Zero”. But, India is more of extraordinary things and they should be known. And, no doubt the random facts about India make the country more interesting and exciting.

So, here are some facts about India that will surely surprise you.

  1. Indian Railways

According to Forbes, Indian Railways has total 1.4 million employees which makes it the seventh largest employer in the world. India’s longest route train runs between Dibrugarh and Kanyakumari, a distance of 4,286km with 56 stops and a running time of 82.30 hours.

Little do you know? The Howrah-Amritsar Express has the most number of stops (115).

And also, Srirampur and Belapur are two different stations in, Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district, but on opposite sides of the same track.

  1. Wettest Place in the world

Yes, the wettest place “Mawsynram” is a village on the Khasi hills, Meghalaya. The village is recorded as the highest average rainfall every year. The villagers wear Knups which are umbrella type hat that keeps the rain from drenching them as they go on their daily routine.

Also, a part of Meghalaya i.e. “Cherrapunji” holds record for the majority rainfall.

  1. World’s Biggest Family

Yes, nowhere else but the worlds biggest family resides in India. It might be unbelievable but its fact a man “Ziona Chana” has total 39 wives, 94 children, 33 grandchildren and 14 daughter in-laws”.

Undoubtedly it’s unbelievable but for “Ziona” he says it’s just the “blessing”.

  1. Snapdeal.com Nagar

This might sound funny at first but it’s a fact guys. “Snapdeal.com Nagar is actually a village located in Muzzaffarnagar in UP state.

In June 2011, the villagers renamed “Shiv Nagar” as “Snapdeal.com Nagar”.

There’s an explanation too that says “ It was only after Snapdeal- an Indian e-commerce company installed 15 hand pumps so that the villagers don’t have to walk miles looking for drinking water”.

There are many brands that are surprisingly not Indian. Yes, and joining them is “Bata” which is not an Indian brand too. It is family-owned global footwear and its headquarters are located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Our well-known CCD- A lot can happen over coffee is actually an Indian brand and was founded by V.G.Siddhartha.

  1. Second largest English speaking country

Yes, India is the second largest English speaking country in the world. Can’t believe it? Well it is.

It covers 10% or 125 million people of India’s population.

Many Indians are said to be judged on their so-called “Hinglish” language and bad grammar but here’s a fact that makes India interesting.

  1. National Game of India

You think it’s Hockey? No-No it’s not a national game of India. The Union Ministry of youth affairs revealed “Country does not have a national game at all”. The assumptions made it look like the “national game” but in reality it’s not.

 

  1. Our famous “Dabbawala’s”

Total 5000 Dabbawala’s cover 60 sq. km in and around Mumbai. Yes, these Dabbawala’s work hard each and every day by providing fresh food to the office workers.

It’s also said “Dabbawala’s are not employees but shareholders”.

  1. Vegetarian friendly Country in the world

In India there are many Indians who raise eyebrows when they hear “I’m a vegetarian”. Isn’t it? But, India is surprisingly the most “vegetarian” friendly country in the world.

Even if you call out and make faces for “Non-vegetarians”, but still Indians have a lowest rate of meat consumption.

  1. Taj Mahal

Here is one of the interesting facts about India. “The Taj” is one among the world’s wonders. No doubt, the sign of pure love Taj Mahal is the magnificence personified. And, many visit the eye pleasing Taj but not many are aware that it’s actually remains closed on “Friday”.
