The EC transferred six Bihar officials including an IAS and three IPS officers on March 26 and 44 officials in Uttar Pradesh on March 27 in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
As the elections are nearing, the Election Commission of India has started its massive administrative shuffle drive for more effective poll prearations. Those who have been transferred in Bihar included Bhojpur district magistrate Pankaj Kumar Pal who has been replaced by primary education director M Saravanan. Similarly, Samastipur SP Chandrika Prasad has been replaced by AIG P Kannan.
Muzaffarpur SSP Saurav Kumar has been replaced by SP (Security) Ranjeet Kumar Mishra, while AIG Daljeet Singh has been appointed Katihar SP in place of Asgar Imam. Patna Sadar Sub-divisional Officer (SDO) Nayyar Iqbal and Chhapra DSP Manish Kumar Sinha have also been transferred.
In UP, 44 senior officers including 22 district magistrates, three DIGs and 19 superintendents of police were transferred.
The list there includes District Magistrates of Mainpuri, Deoria, Maharajganj, Mahoba, Mau, Meerut, Sambhal, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Sonebhadra, Amroha, Bahraich, Banda, Chitrakoot, Etah, Firozabad, Gonda, Jhansi, Kaushambi, Lalitpur, Pratapgarh, Rampur and Shahjanahpur.
Mainpuri is the district from where Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav is contesting. The districts from where SPs have been transferred include Farrukhabad, from where Union minister Salman Khurshid is contesting as a Congress candidate; Ghaziabad and Sultanpur. Varun Gandhi is going to contest from Sultanpur.
Other districts which will have new police chiefs include Bahraich, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Mau, Siddhart Nagar, Aligarh, Allahabad, Balrampur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Etah, Fatehpur, Gonda, Pratapgarh, Rampur and Sant Ravidas Nagar.
The list of replacements in UP is not out yet.
The Lok Sabha elections in India are starting on April 7, and the results will come out on May 16.
