Abraham’s wooden expressions and emotionless baritone makes him the most unapt candidate for a funny film. What’s all the more infuriating is when you hear a hilariously witty dialogue and you see someone like Abraham botching and butchering it with his boring countenance and zero emoting skills.
There’s enough evidence to prove that Johnny boy should stay miles away from this genre. In Garam Masala, John was seen in his hideously straightened hair, muttering and murmuring insipid puns which I am sure didn’t even make him crack up.
In Dostana Johnny boy stepped into the shoes a macho photographer, who in the second half of the film transformed into a gay just for the sake of securing an accommodation at sexy Priyanka Chopra’s house. As always JA put in great amount of efforts, made his voice quiver, did something new with his body language, but just couldn’t get rid of the ‘He can’t do comedy’ label from his forehead.
Looks like the Madras Café actor has decided to never ever learn from his mistakes. Thankfully Welcome back and Dostana 2 are multi starrers and John doesn’t have to go through the ordeal of carrying the movie on his beefy shoulders all by himself. Abhishek Bachchan’s effeminate gay portrayal and Nana Patekar’s frantic ‘head slapping’ comedy style will be enough to cover up his zombie-like expressions.
