Remember all that brouhaha created when it was discovered that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was pregnant. It was only much later discovered that she left director Madhur Bhandarkar in the lurch while he was all set to shoot for Heroine, because she was carrying a child. Now I really hope, if there’s any grain of truth to our spicy speculations, that VB doesn’t resort to such ridiculous tactics. She has always come across this woman who has a good head on her shoulders. And if she is really pregnant, she should come out and officially announce. She will be surprised with the number of congratulatory messages and blessings she receives.
Now somewhat substantiating Vidya’s pregnancy story is the news of Kangna replacing Ms Balan in a film. It seems VB was offered a movie by good friend Sujoy Ghosh. The Kahaani duo had almost locked the deal when we suddenly hear that Vidya is no longer going to be a part of the film. As the Dirty Picture babe made a quick exit, Kangna came aboard, still basking in the success of her new film Queen.
The film is called Durga Rani Singh, now isn’t that an unusual name? And looks like ‘Rani’ is going to trail behind Kangy in 2014, just the way luck and victory are hovering around her like two loyal buddies. But no one knows the real reason why VB opted out of the project. She and Sujoy make a great working combo, and it’s not that she is swamped with work or something, so what could be the reason behind she giving up on a challenging role and handing it down generously to Ms Ranaut? Since when did Bollywood heroines start sacrificing for each other? So the possibility of VB flaunting a baby bump soon at events and functions is quite high. If you have noticed, she also looked plumper than usual in Shaadi Ke Side Effects.
Even though Vidya continues to be my favourite woman in terms of thespian skills and I continue to be in awe of her super strong personality. But you know what would be inspiring, if she comes out in the open and tells people the real truth rather than hibernating out there.
Until then I would love to know what this Durga Rani Singh is all about. Sounds like a commercial Bandit-Queen kinda film, what do you think?
