He still seems glad that Twinkle finally agreed to tie the knot with him.
But the real story goes somewhat like this. Destiny had other plans. Khanna had absolutely no plans of settling into the role of a housewife and manage a house and all that conventional jazz. After courting each other for quite a while, Akki obviously popped the question but to his surprise, he didn’t exactly get a satisfactory response from his long time sweetheart. Twinkle had set up a condition that if her film Mela, which she had got done with, becomes a hit; she wouldn’t settle down so early in life. But unfortunately the film bombed big time at the box office and Twinkle had no other option but to get hitched with Akshay.
The couple still looks back and laughs about this whole incident. In fact Akki revealed in a recent interview while thanking God that Mela flopped or else he wouldn’t be a happy family man today. Even Karan Johar recently joked about it on Koffee With Karan that Akshay should thank Aamir Khan profusely whenever he meets him.
