Let’s take a look at how Bollywood has been celebrating the festival of our Elephant God!
The festival of Ganpati is one such fun fest that not only brings people of all caste and creed together but also creates a positive vibe that leaves us feeling blessed. Every year during this festival the streets are abuzz with noise, laughter, lights and colour. And not to forget those typical Bollywood songs that you will hear blasting in every second lane.
Bollywood has always taken the liberty to showcase our culture through movies and Ganpati Bappa surely seems to be one of their favourite Gods. That will explain the innumerable songs dedicated in His name and such inspirational ones that you can’t help but dance along. Let’s have a look some such songs that welcome Ganpati Bappa in complete fervour.
Deva o Deva – Humse Badhkar Kaun
Now this song is a classic one and any Ganpati visarjan is incomplete without it. From the movie Humse Badhkar Kaun, the song sings praises in His name. Many have grown up listening to this song being played in Nasik Dhol instantly connecting us to the festival’s mood.
Ganpati Apne Gaon Chale – Agneepath
From the original Agneepath, this song showed Mithun Da dancing to the tunes of this popular Ganpati aarti while Amitabh Bachchan carried the idol. A rather slow number but very impactful.
Ganpati aarti – Vaastav
This is not an original song but the good old Ganpati aarti which was recreated for this very important sequence in Sanjay Dutt’s Vaastav. As the sequence culminates into an encounter in the movie, the aarti adds symphony to the plot and has turned out to be one of the impactful music in Bollywood history. This version of the Ganpati aarti became so popular that it is in fact now used in households who host Ganpati during this festival.
Mourya Re – Don
We are talking about Shahrukh’s movie Don in which he can be seen serenading to Bappa in his style. Sung by Shankar Mahadevan, the song is melodious and in spite of being a simple song it has left a huge mark and is played in mostvisarjan processions.
Deva Shree Ganesha – Agneepath
Karan Johar’s remake of Agneepath had its own take on the movie and while the original too had a Ganpati song, as mentioned above, Deva Shree Ganesha takes the sequence to a different level altogether. Music composers Ajit and Atul have done a marvellous job with this song and we bet you can’t listen to it without getting goose bumps. What makes this song more unique is the fact that in the movie it is during this song that Hrithik Roshan for the first time utters the famous lines, “Naam Vijay Dinanath Chauhan…gaon Mandwa!”
Ganpati Bappa Morya, Sadda Dil Vi Tu – ABCD
The first song Ganpati Bappa Morya is your typical set-in-the-visarjan-sequence and has dancers Salman Yusuff Khan and Dharmesh Sir doing some fabulous moves.
While the other song Sadda Dil Vi Tu is such a well-choreographed song that it can be called the perfect ode to Ganpati Bappa. The song has a fast tempo, excellent dancing by Salman, Dharmesh Sir and Lauren from Foreign and on top of it the classic Ganpati aartis. What else do you expect from a dance movie made by ace choreographer Remo D’Souza? The movie in fact suggests that is during Ganpati visarjan when we dance heartily and that’s real dancing.
