The possibility of multi-starrers may comeback in Bollywood. The way it was done in late 80’s and 90’s, the formula can be repeated. It might result in mega blockbusters!
Our Hindi film industry, our beloved Bollywood is growing in leaps and bounds.
Every other movie starring one or the other A-lister is crossing the 100crore mark.
Not only older actors, even the younger lot is churning out 100crore+ flicks as if it’s easier than battling an eyelid! Now, I’m strictly not commenting upon the quality of the movie or new benchmarks being set as far as cinematic brilliance is concerned. All am talking about is the commercial success of actors based on their fan-following and huge promotional activity which starts right at the conceiving stage of a film’s idea!
Given the change in times and the way movies are made, somehow the concept of multi-starrers has gone totally extinct. There was this era of Hindi movies when all the biggies of Bollywood cutting across generations use to come together for a movie and audiences use to lap it up.
For example, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor in Naseeb! Rishi was a junior to Amitabh, both in age and as an actor. In recent times, it was coming together of Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan for Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham where three generations of superstars assembled to give viewers a cinematic delight. It minted tones of money too, but let’s leave it to Karan Johar for counting the dough!
Anyways, how about the current superstars, the likes of Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan etc. doing some multi-starrers with the current lot of young actors joining the industry? Not only can projects turn into huge financial blockbusters, even their collective audience base can be given some sure-shot entertainment. Let’s look at some of the possible combinations that can create fireworks if they act together:
1) Salman Khan and Varun Dhawan
These two actors can be a treat to watch for their sheer energy and craziness on screen. They are amazingly good looking, have got great physique, are funny to watch and can dance really well. May be Varun can learn a step or two from his senior about surviving purely on charisma even with no acting talent and in return, Salman can get more of young female fans! A pure masala flick can do justice to their inherent talents!
2) Shahrukh Khan and Ranveer Singh
Okay we know this might be a real crazy combo, but just think about it. These two people are known to be hyper-active bundles of energy who can’t stay at one place for more than may be a second! Having them both perform together in typical Shahrukh style cinema can be a visual treat. Or may be, bring out the negative Shahrukh back and mix it with the naughtiness of Ranveer! Can you imagine the chemistry?
3) Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor
When it comes to bringing three generations of super actors in one frame, this combination of good looking, heavily talented and charming actors is second to none! This can very well be the casting coup every film-maker dreams of. Get them in any movie, any story, any plot, they will just raise the benchmarks to a whole new level! Anyone listening?
4) Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Malhotra
These two drop-dead sexy hunks should only do some beautiful romantic drama and it is a given that every woman in the country will go weak in her knees! The intensity mixed with innocence on their faces with some raw acting talent is a sure shot recipe for a romantic blockbuster.
5) Akshay Kumar and Ayushman Khurana
How can we not make a movie with out and out comedy to tickle the funny bone of masses? Who better than the master of comic timing, Akshay and the new kid on the block who has shown great promise with his funny debut in Vicki Donor! Their jodi can easily laugh their way to the bank.
