You have to agree that the Badshaah of Bollywood is just way too complacent. All he has been doing is pandering to people with a taste for mind-numbing cinema. Agree, he is a busy man, but you don’t even see him taking any efforts to do new kind of films. Why does the enthusiasm ebb away at the thought of doing some substantial work; because it won’t help you earn enough dough? Here are a couple of things I would love the star to start focusing on and live up to the label of the ‘King’ that has been given to him with such great affection by his fans…
Do better films: It’s high time the superstar starts doing some sensible movies. Chak De and Swades were great films, Paheli was an earnest attempt. The actor has reached a position wherein he can always choose to do a good film at least once a year and carry on with his commercial hogwash at other times.
Start acting his age/experiment: No doubt he’s a charmer, even in those tight t-shirts and leg-hugging jeans, but as an actor I would love to see him experiment with different characters. Why does he have to be this romantic hero stretching his arms in the air all the time? Look at Christian Bale playing a fat-bellied swindler in Amercian Hustle or a Daniel Day Lewis playing a handicapped man throughout in My Left Foot, or even an Amitabh Bachchan portraying a 12-year-old boy with a genetic disorder in Paa. SRK truly needs to get his act together, don’t you think?
Use his clout: Anyone who is remotely passionate about his art would use his clout and try and create some great innovative work. Brad Pitt used his influence to get 12 years a slave made, which has been nominated for the Oscars as well. Leo gathered investors to produce The Wolf On Wall Street when the studios turned the film down. Guess, SRK doesn’t believe in his own star power, or he’s simply not interested in quality cinema.
Stop being so money-minded: Chennai Express, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, RA.One were epic shit. The big bundles of money seem to be clouding his vision. If he claims to be an artist, he should at least try and show some signs that he is one.
Stay away from injuries: The actor got injured recently on the sets of Happy New Year. Although it was a minor injury, he was rushed to the hospital instantly. It would be great if the actor breaks his head over churning out some good movies than breaking his bones, and clearly he has the potential to do both…
