So folks, the funk is here! Yet Again!
Our darling Sonam Kapoor unveiled the much awaited first look poster of her upcoming debut Disney venture “Khoobsurat”.
She chose Facebook as the launch-pad and wrote along with the poster “Hi guys! The teaser poster for my film #khoobsurat! Directed by Shashank Ghosh! The poster oozes nothing but ultimate style and funk, where Sonam’s lower body, mainly legs are seen, adorned in a polka dotted trousers complimented by colorful printed sneakers and making a chic fashion statement! Carrying a stylish shoulder bag in her hand, the lady is walking with grace but a strong mischievous aura surrounds the poster when you see it at first glance somehow. The teaser poster also highlights ‘The Royal Mis-Fit’ slogan on the side, that surely intrigues the audience. Well, what else we expect from our modish diva Sonam “Style” Kapoor, who utters nothing but fashion and … ummmm fashion!
It has to be a classy statement!
Ok, coming to the film! It is the remake of Hrishikesh Mukerjee‘s 1980 super flick “Khoobsurat” where Rekha spilled her magic and it was out and out a Rekha Movie. I am pretty sure you guys remember that film clearly! “Sun sun sun didi tere liye ek rishta aaya hai”, and “Qaayeda Qaayeda, aakhir faayeda” , the foot tapping numbers from the flick became a rage in those days. We can still hum the songs and feel good about them. Though other superlative performers like Ashok Kumar and Rakesh Roshan were seen in pivotal roles but Rekha undoubtedly stole the whole show in a clean sweep!
Now the question is, can Sonam Kapoor create the same magic or more, to clean Rekha’s Khoobsurat memories from our brains? That we have to see now for sure!
In this upcoming one, Sonam’s romantic lead is being played by Fawad Khan, popular television show Zindagi Gulzar Hai fame, utterly handsome boy. The film also features ace performers like Kirron Kher, Ratna Pathak, and Aamir Raza Husein. Sonam will be seen in a lead role of vivacious girl Mili who turns the lives of a royal family upside down and teaches them a thing or two about life!
Produced by Anil Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor and Sidharth Roy Kapur, Khoobsurat is set for a September 19, 2014 release and shall clash with Anurag Kashyap‘s Ugly. The film also marks the comeback of ‘Quick Gun Murugan’ fame filmmaker Shashanka Ghosh as Director.
To sum it up, all we can say is “Sonam baby, you better be better or more than better than what we have seen. Please don’t disappoint us in Rekha-2 avatar. We know it’s a tough job but we definitely have high hopes in you!”
