It seems Zoya Akhtar offered Tabu the role of PC’s mother in her next film. If you ask me, Tabu doesn’t look like the Chopra chick’s mother from any angle. She can do justice to the role of PC’s older sister maybe, but not her mommy…c’mon. What was Zoya thinking? If it’s someone like Alia, it might still look a little convincing that Tabu is the mommy of a 20-year-old. Looks like Zoya is way too much in a hurry to put the talented Life of Pi actor in the oldies category.
You know what’s interesting though, Tabu has downright rejected Akhtar’s request to play a boring mommy. In fact she will be seen portraying a much more spicy character on screen. She will be seen romancing the much younger Shahid Kapoor in Vikas Bahl’s next film. There’s almost an age difference of 9 years between the two. But that’s the fun. Even though there are a lot of unconventional couples out there where the chick is much older than the guy, mainstream Bollywood has somehow being avoiding the idea of treading into that risky zone. But finally it caught someone’s notice and it will be interesting to watch what’s in store for this unusual couple.
Vikas has already proved his mettle with Queen and Chillar Party. His movies have struck a chord with people who like watching good cinema. Now that’s the reason I have sky-high expectations from this one too.
I think it will be a breath of fresh air to watch Tabu in this unusual role. She was superb in Cheeni Kam in which she had to romance the much older Amitabh Bachchan. And I am sure everyone loves a li’l variety in their lives. Now it’s time for the actor to get wooed by a much younger dude. So should we call Tabu the gorgeous cougar perhaps! Or are we crossing the line here?
