#Rekha – the timeless #Diva is all set with her movie kicking in the theaters tomorrow #SuperNani. We walk down the memory lane from #BabyBhanurekha to #SuperNani.
#SuperNani is all set to hit the theatres tomorrow.
The promos did generate quite a bit of hype although the star cast (except #Rekha) seems a bit weak. Even the songs failed to strike the right chord.
The concept of a #SuperGrandmom definitely intrigued a lot of people and a family drama is always a safe bet to invest.
#Rekha who plays the role of the super grandmother in this film is without doubt the USP of this film.
Even in this age she has the perfect aura and is still rocking the theatres with her charm.
Let me walk down the memory lane where #BabyBhanurekha made her first appearance in the Telugu film #RangulaRatnam
It was the start of her career. She started as a child actress in this film directed by B. N. Reddy in 1966.
The film won the National Film Award for best feature film in Telugu for that year.
She made her first debut as a lead in the film ‘Sawan Bhadon’ in 1970.
The film was directed by #MohanSegal.
Her early career was quite a rough patch as she was constantly criticised for her looks. She was called the ‘Ugly Duckling’ of Hindi films because of her dark complexion.
She then decided to transform herself.
She went through a strict diet to lose weight, paid attention to everything right from her dress code to her make-up and transformed into a Diva that she still is.
She started with her performance oriented roles:
Rekha’s transformation could well be seen in the film #DoAnjaane directed by #DulalGuha starring #RekhaAndAmitabh
As we all are aware of the infamous rape scenes that made Ranjeet and the other villains popular in that time, rape scenes were used to titillate the audiences instead of crime depiction.
A Bollywood movie was incomplete without a rape scene. Rekha gained popularity in the film ‘Ghar’ where she portrayed the character of a rape victim.
When all the directors were into the system of involving at least a rape scene in their movies, director Hrishikesh Mukherjee was one person making different kinds of cinema.
Ranjeet was even reported admitting that the distributers had asked Hrishikesh to include a rape scene…let the heroine dream of such a scene and Ranjeet would come and do the needful…but the director denied to such demands.
#HrishikeshMukherjee casted #Rekha in #Khubsoorat that went on to become a huge hit.
Her career was on a high and she went on to do several films like #Silsila, #UmraoJaan, etc.
In the 1990s when actresses of her era were playing elderly roles ageless Rekha was even casted in a negative role opposite to #AkshayKumar
In the time where Mallika Sherawat was making headlines #Parineeta saw #Rekha doing an item number…#KaisiPaheli
Well we wish the diva all the best for her release with super special granny powers.
