Easily one of the most controversial movies of the year, Ragini MMS 2 is one film that’s going to be a visual delight for the men, and we all know why! The movie was recently in the news again. Pictures of Sandhya Mridul and Sunny Leone kissing were flashed in every nook and cranny of the virtual world. Even though Leone came out in the open and declared that it was the so-called ‘demand of the script’, the ‘kiss’ gave us a fair idea of how ‘saucy and sensual’ this horror film is going to be.
But you know what else is creating a melodious buzz; well…it’s the songs of the movie. Here are my two cents on the tracks of the film…
Baby Doll: This number is the saving grace of the album. Since there are hardly any songs in the film, the makers have done a clever job of coming up with this peppy, fast-paced number and make it the ‘face’ of the film. Sung by Meet Bros and Kanika Kapoor, the song oscillates between lively Punjabi lyrics and well-placed rap portions. This one is hummable, take my word for it! It’s sure to strike a chord with hardcore film fans. The words are catchy and the tune instantly attracts your attention. I will give this one a generous 4.5/5.
Chaar Botal Vodka: Even though it’s very rare that you will dislike a Honey Singh song, I would say this track isn’t the singer’s best work. Chaar botal vodka is one of those ditties which you have to listen on loop to get a hang of, to wait for it to grow on you. The bland rhythm of the song will play in your mind eventually only because it has that ‘grooving effect’, apart from that it has nothing special that will make you want to place it instantly in your favourite playlist. This deserves a 2.5/5.
Lori of death: The composers have tried to give this track a spooky feel, and I must say mission accomplished! Singer Arpita Chakraborty does a fab job of lending a sinister touch to the tune. This eerie lullaby has interesting lyrics, and if you listen to it carefully, you might also find it amusing for a second. Lines like ‘Soja warna dayan kaat khayegi’ and ‘shahad ki raston mein hoga barfi ka makan’ seems to have come straight out of a creative mind. It’s an interesting composition, leaning on the lines of a little experimentation; I would happily give this one a 4/5.
Baby doll remix: Picking up a fairly decent song and remixing it up for absolutely no rhyme or reason is the most ridiculous thing to do. This is a redundant track in the album. If you don’t want to waste you precious time, hit delete or pretend as if this one never existed. I wouldn’t bother to rate this track…
