Well, there’s no dearth of youth-oriented flicks; what’s really missing from the Bollywood scene though are good and watchable youth-oriented movies. In fact, most of them are such infuriating stereotypes. Remember Yaariyan which released a couple of months ago? A bunch of bratty kids come together, spend their money around, have lavish pool parties and hover around in skimpy clothes – that’s all it was all about. Well, there’s a lot more that young people do other than partying and falling in love every other day.
Purani Jeans doesn’t impress much. The trailer gives a fair idea about its shoddy content. Starring Tanuj Virwani – Rati Agnihotri’s son (read nepotism), Izabelle Leite, Aditya Seal, Sarika and Rati Agnihotri herself, the film comprises all fabulously fresh and new faces. Directed by Tanushri Chattriji Bassu, the film will release on May 1.
If you see the main female lead carefully, she might look familiar to you. Izabelle has done a film called ‘Sixteen’ before. And not just that, this hot Brazilian chick has been in the news for dating Virat Kohli for a while. After a steamy affair with the cricketer, the babe it seems also had a thing with Student Of The Year dude Siddharth Malhotra. Well, looks like Izabelle’s love list is brimming with dishy men.
Getting back to the film; Purani Jeans is about two best friends who form a childish pact of not leaving each other’s side, always place friendship beyond everything else and more importantly not look at each other’s gal. But the third rule goes a li’l awry when the two studs fall head over heels in love with the same chick. So after all hell breaks loose, the story gains momentum and shows how these two distraught bosom pals deal with this intense ‘lurve’ problem.
Now isn’t that predictable to the core? Be honest, cross your heart and tell me are you going to watch this film? Is there anything about it you haven’t seen or heard before? Purani Jeans doesn’t strike a chord with me for sure. There’s something so banal about the promo that even the fresh pretty faces fail to create the much needed intrigue…You let us know your views about this movie!
