Wondering why I am addressing Amitabh Bachchan as a rapping star? If you guys remember Big B has already been there done that.
Wondering why I am addressing Amitabh Bachchan as a rapping star? If you guys remember Big B has already been there done that. His album titled Aby Baby, featuring the song Ek Rahen Beer was quite a hit those days, when ‘Indi pop’ had just made its way through the crevices of the music scene in India. Amitabh Bahchan was seen in this uber stylish video directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, narrating the adventures of three kids Eer, Beer and Phatte in the form of a fast-paced rap. The poem used in the song is written by Big B’s dad Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
So when I heard that Big B has been approached to ‘rap and roll’ again for Bhootnath Returns along with the current sensation Honey Singh, it suddenly conjured up memories of Big B’s stint with rap in the ‘90s. Prancing around in a very relaxed style, sporting a white shirt and black trousers, the actor was seen bringing his super stylish self to the fore in the video.
I am not sure if Big B has given his nod to croon yet, but expect the veteran star to go all ballistic with the Lungi dance singer. The two will be seen shaking a leg, and having a gala time for this special song in Bhootnath returns. Along with a foot-thumping tune, the song will also have some jaw dropping special effects. Shot in a huge haveli, the makers will make the place look like a ghost house and I hear Big B will be seen dancing with a crowd of cute kids in the track.
I am sure Honey is the ultimate rockstar and all that jazz, but if Big B lends his voice to the number, I won’t be surprised the veteran actor overshadowing him big time. That’s what his aura is like, don’t you agree?
We can just hope, the dynamic duo surprise us with something exciting. Rap has become so passé these days; maybe the two powerhouse performers can ignite our interest in the genre again, what say people?
