Acting in films after having a successful career as a stand-up comedian seems like a foregone conclusion these days.
Look at Manish Paul, after entertaining the audience for years with his funny antics on stage, he thought of entering the big bad world of films with Mickey Virus. And now following in his footsteps is Mr Sharma who’s gearing up to do a film titled Bank Chor. And the film won’t be launched under any other banner; Y films – the youth film division of Yash Raj films has roped in the actor for this lucrative deal.
Kapil is pretty much acquainted with the rules of acting. He has done a lot of theatre before and was quite passionate about acting at one point till he got sucked into the world of comedy.
But what after Banck Chor?
Well, Kapil has been offered a three film deal by the company. Looks like Kapil Sharma is all sorted and it’s amazing how he’s got off to such a flying start. His show has garnered more TRPs than he could ever imagine and now the doors of cinema have opened for him, without him having to stand in serpentine queues for giving an audition I presume.
It’s great how Bollywood is welcoming unconventional ‘non-hero’ like faces as well with open arms, giving more importance to talent than brawns. But I wonder what Bank Chor is all about. I hear it’s a comic thriller. So expect some nail-biting scenes along with Sharma’s cool comic timing.
The same banner also produced Mere Dad Ki Maruti last year. The movie got decent reviews from critics and audience alike. Now this totally makes me expect a lot from Bank Chor.
Just hope Kapil Sharma controls on all that hamming and surprises us big time, which he usually does on his show every now and then….
