#HappyNewYear : I Am Going For Happy New Year…Yes Judge My IQ

#HappyNewYear – The way logic takes a back seat in our commercially successful Bollywood movies like ‘˜Bodyguard’, ‘˜Chennai Express’, etc. doesn’t narration go for a toss in the so called ‘˜art films’?

The songs of the movie ‘Happy New Year’ are already making the point that it is going to be a complete entertainment this Diwali.

The so-called film critics and film scholars are not going to like me.

They might even doubt my intellectual level. I really don’t care.

I would openly admit that I never understood films of Godard. I now see many scholars exclaiming ‘no wonder’. But seriously, what were those films?

I remember in my film aesthetics lectures during my college days we were exposed to all kinds of films. I never understood the so called ‘highly acclaimed’ movies.

The way logic takes a back seat in our commercially successful Bollywood movies like ‘Bodyguard’, ‘Chennai Express’, etc. doesn’t narration go for a toss in the so called ‘art films’?

You sit throughout the film, don’t understand the head or tail of the movie but still come out saying “oh what camera angles, use of mise-en-scene…”

I mean, seriously what was the movie about?

At least ‘Chennai Express’ didn’t leave me in the utter confused state.  You immediately understand what the director wanted to portray.

Yes the extreme nonsense portrayed in such films can challenge Newton’s laws of motion. But then again ‘Nonsense ki night’ justifies the usage of stupidity as a great humour factor.

If you have heard the song ‘Nonsense ki night’ you would understand what I am talking about. In this song the famous phrases in Hindi are literally translated to English. For example ‘gayi bhais paani main’ – ‘buffalo going in the water’.

Yes curse me for sharing this piece of information but hey its supposed to be nonsense.

These songs portray stupidity being a cool factor. That is a mantra that works in this industry.

‘Manwa laage’ is a song from the same film wherein the chemistry portrayed between SRK and Deepika is quite literal. For example whenever she comes close to SRK something burns. This way the director aims at portraying the fire in their chemistry.

Eagerly looking forward for the film’s release. Yes am going first day first show and preferably would like to lock up my logic sense and just enjoy the film.

As ambiguity has no limits in art films logic has no place in such films.
