However, on closer look, the industry has rolled down a line of costume styles that make us burst into peals of laughter. Here are the worst attires from Bollywood movies that could make you run for cover.
Bollywood has always given us loads to chew on. From teaching us how to kiss in the rain to even training us on how to carve white lies to go on a date, the naughty quotient in Bolly flicks overwhelms us. However, on closer look, the industry has rolled down a line of costume styles that make us burst into peals of laughter. Here are the worst attires from Bollywood movies that could make you run for cover.
Hum Aapke Hain Kaun:
The flick was a massive hit. Yet somewhere, on looking back, Madhuri Dixit’s lehenga cholis and dresses make unreal sense. And while Madonna was hailed for her conical bras, Madhuri’s cholis could have a more decent bulge to them. Cut in the wrong places and silhouettes gone awry—the film had a horrid costume segment. If only the costumes were more stylish in the face of the film’s hype! Madhuri Dixit is an impeccable dresser today. A diva who has earned her title by working towards it, indeed!
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai:
Yes, surprising choice this is. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai gave Kajol a new sense of fashion probably. However, for her cousin Rani, the film gave the worst costumes ever. More so, with Rani being overweight on a visible note then, the miniskirts and the tops really made her look like a hippo. Rani Mukherjee has refined over time but does make blunders in her dress department in real life, at times.
Ra.One:
Another hit on a massive scale, Ra.One scored a miss on the dress depot. The entire get-up that Shah Rukh Khan’s robot avatar had was a letdown. Bollywood can barely be expected to do a Minority Report thing over night. However, SRK could have taken care not to appear drab with his blue eye-lenses and robot suit. More so, the film had a horrible looking Arjun Rampal too. If there had to be one complete dud in the movie, it is that of the costume department. In real life though, Both Rampal and SRK are studs and they dress to kill, even in the Knight Rider jerseys!
Kismet Konnection:
The flick was not a massive hit but was moderately popular. The reason it made headlines was Vidya Balan’s camaraderie with western wardrobes. The Balan lady had thought of going western all of a sudden and this connection fell flat. The only segment benefitting from the costumes in the movie was that of the fashion gossip columns. Vidya only began facing flak for her dresses in Kismet Konnection. The saga continues till date in all her real life appearances! We hope she took a leaf out of her own designer’s diary to learn the art of dressing according to her type.
In fact, Costume department create the costume after director’s approval. The director is responsible for costume’s color combination and design. So let’s blame it on director rather than costume designer.
