Films to be released in 2018 – 2017 was an under whelming year for Hindi cinema.
Though ‘Baahubali – The Conclusion’ turned out to be a historic blockbuster, it was a Telugu film that was dubbed in Hindi. The rest of the year saw a mix of offbeat films like ‘Hindi Medium’, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan’ and commercial entertainers like ‘Judwaa 2’, ‘Golmaal Again!’ and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, among others, impressing the audience.

- Race 3
A successful franchise helmed by the country’s biggest superstar, need we say more? ‘Race 1’ and ‘Race 2’ were successful films but things are bound to get more exciting as this time it is Salman Khan who is headlining the cast of the film. Apart from him, the film stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Saqib Saleem and Daisy Shah. Remo D’Souza replaces Abbas-Mustan, who had made the earlier two films, as the director.

Abhishek Kapoor’s last film ‘Fitoor’ may nt have hit the bull’s eye at the box-office but this time, the subject he has chosen seems to be very promising. ‘Kedarnath’ stars Sushant Singh Rajput as a Muslim pithoo who carries pilgrims to the Kedarnath temple situated in a hilly location and Sara Ali Khan (Saif Ali Khan’s daughter who makes her debut with this film) portrays the character of a Hindu girl who hailsfrom a wealthy politician family.

2.0 is the sequel to the 2010 Rajinikanth starrer ‘Robot’ and is being shot in two languages, Tamil and Hindi. What makes this Shankar directed film special is Akshay Kumar plays the role of the main antagonist – a ‘crow-man’ who is out to conquer the world and destroy humanity. Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar coming together in a Shankar film definitely makes things very exciting.

Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic of Sanjay Dutt which has Ranbir Kapoor playing the role of the controversial film star has been in the news for a long time because of the leaked pictures which show Ranbir dressed up as Sanjay Dutt. Rajkumar Hirani has three four blockbusters behind and one does not expect him to go wrong with this one. The film which was slated to release in Christmas last year, will now hit the screens in March 2018.
- Thugs Of Hindostan
If there is one superstar who has constantly delivered on his promise to come up with films that are not only entraining but high oncontent, it is Aamir Khan. The actor has not disappointed with his choices in the last several years and with him teaming up with Yash Raj Films and Vijay Krishna Acharya (‘Dhoom 3’) for a period film is definitely something one looks forward to. The film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh will release on Diwali 2018.
- Raazi
Alia Bhatt is one of the finest actresses of her generation and Vicky Kaushal, too, has impressed in the kind of work he has done ever since his debut in ‘Masaan’. The two actors have been paired together in ‘Raazi’, a period thrillerbased on author Harinder Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sehmat’. Meghna Gulzar, who helmed one of the finest films of 2015 ‘Talvar’, directs this one.
- Dhadak
‘Sairat’ is one of the biggest hits in the history of Indian cinema and now it being remade in Hindi by Karan Johar and Zee Studios, which produced the original, as ‘Dhadak’. What makes the film special is that it marks the debut of Janhvi Kapoor, Sridevi’s daughter, alongside Ishaan Khatter, who is Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother. The film is being directed by Shashank Khaitan who has hits like ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ behind him.
- Simmba
‘Simmba’, a remake of Telugu hit ‘Temper’, marks the first collaboration between Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh. With such big names coming together for the remake of a hugely entertaining film, one expects nothing less than fireworks at the box-office when it releases on 21st September, 2018. The poster of the film left a huge impact and one expects the excitement to pick up pace by the time it releases in theatres.
- Zero
The teaser of this film, which stars Shah Rukh Khan as a vertically challenged person, was released recently on New Year’s Eve and received a thundering response from the audience. The film also stars A-list actresses Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma and is directed by Aanand L. Rai who has films like ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, Raanjhanaa’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ to his credit as a director. It wold be interesting to see one of the biggest superstars of the country in the role of a dwarf.

Anushka Sharma has been making some interesting choices as a producer. The poster of ‘Pari’ suggested that she has pushed the envelope in a big way with her third film as a producer. The film is supposedly a horror-thriller and has been directed by debutante director Prosit Roy. The poster of the film shocked many and one waits to see if the film manages to do the same when it hits the theatres.
