The actor will be playing a street fighter in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet. And we hear, we won’t be seeing the Kapoor kid in his usual guy-next-door avatar. It seems RK is trying super hard to shed the ‘urban, laidback boy’ image and slip into the shoes of a rugged ‘mean dude’. The actor has already started training super hard. When he is not complaining of sore muscles, his trainer Ashwinder Singh is making him sweat it out over a rigorous routine of Kickboxing and martial arts training. His diet has been transformed to give him a slightly muscular look.
I wonder if the actor will be able to portray a toughie on the big screen. He has created such a happy-go-lucky image after all. From Barfi! to Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani, Ranbir is this happy and smiling dude in most of his films, not messing too much with his detractors, living life as it comes. It’s a li’l hard to imagine this carefree bloke, gearing up to pack some mean punches.
The movie is set in an era when Mumbai had not become a Metropolis yet. The director has made sure he incorporates elements of greed, violence and love, all garnished with the Jazz culture in Mumbai.
It’s not just Ranbir who is all set to surprise us on screen. Even Karan Johar will be seen playing a negative role in the film. He will be seen as a Parsi industrialist called Khambata. Kashyap thinks Karan will do great justice to the role. Adding to that interesting star cast is Anushka Sharma, who will be seen flexing her vocal chords as a Jazz singer in the movie. Waiting desperately for this one to hit the theatre screens.
