After 5 long years, Harman will be seen trying to woo the audience again by playing a rugged gangster in Dishkyaoon. Will he be able to destroy the ‘Hrithik Roshan lookalike jinx’ that’s plaguing him for years, chasing him like an unwanted shadow? Well, that’s yet to be seen. But of whatever I see in the promo, Baweja looks unselfconscious. There’s a different kind of confidence that’s haloing him as he steps into the shoes of Viki Kartoos. With that sexy crew cut and gorgeous six-packs, Harman goes all ‘gangsta’ in the film.
The film also stars Sunny Deol (Lakwa) who portrays this new look in the film. The unibrow and the unsophisticated dialect make him look perfectly sly, just the way a thug should be.
Produced by Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra, Dishkyaaon seems inspired by films like Company and Satya. It gives a generous view of the murky world of the underworld, in absolute Bollywood style.
While Baweja impresses with his effortless portrayal of a gorgeous gunda, I am not sure what’s so different about Dishkyaoon. It’s those same action scenes packaged rather slightly differently, and the same pangas and jhagdas we see hoodlums getting involved in, in Hindi movies. I somehow don’t get a whiff of the USP yet.
But if you ask me, if Harman will be able to break away from the ‘curse of being a lookalike’, I think he will break away quite smartly and dexterously with his neat performance in this one. Watch the trailer and let us know your views. Who impresses you more, Vicky Kartoos or Lakwa?
