The babe is all geared up for her next release 2 States. She plays Ananya Swaminathan, a Tamilian geek studying in IIM. What would you do in real life if your folks don’t approve of your relationship?
Well, my folks are very liberal. I think just like everything else, there’s a correct age to have a boyfriend as well. There comes an age when you have to keep your parents’ sensitivity in mind. And in real life if they aren’t too happy, I’ll go out of my way to convince them.
Highway got a very cold response at the box office, are you disappointed?
Not really, ‘coz no one has lost any money. I gained a lot of love and respect
Sonakshi Sinha recently said in an interview that she’s against kissing, you think it’s justified for actors who are in such a creative profession to have such reservations?
To each his own ya! Everyone has different ideologies. I personally wouldn’t want to do nudity in any of my films ‘cos I know I won’t be able to give it my 100%. Talking about kissing, I think the kiss in the last scene of Band Baaja Baarat was shot amazingly. I wonder why people think that the kisses shot in Bollywood films are awkward. In fact some of them are really good.
Varun Dhawan is a good friend of yours; have you managed to see Main Tera Hero yet?
Oh yes, I was so happy, I think only David Dhawan can make a mad and a crazy film like that. And Varun has done a fab job, to hold a film completely on your own shoulders is definitely not easy.
What’s the first thing that struck you about 2 States and helped you decide you want to do the film?
You know what, there was no nod involved. They called me for a look test and then I got a call directly after 5 months asking me if I wanted to do the film. In fact they were the ones who were confused if they wanted to cast me for the film.
Are you getting bolder with every film?
Now define bold…I obviously can’t be Sunny Leone because I am just 21. But if you’ve noticed I’ve done it all from kissing to wearing a bikini on screen. There’s hardly anything left.
