6 Times Anushka Sharma Proved She Is The Star For GenX Girls! And This One Took The Cake! Watch Video!

Right from her days of “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”, we have loved and admired this cute, yet impressive girl called Anushka Sharma, who has a huge screen presence!  Her forth righted attitude, no nonsense behaviour and confidence that speaks for itself has made her carve a unique space for herself in the industry.

With just 11 films in her kitty and a much talked about relationship with cricketer Virat Kohli, she is  one girl who is talk of the town for all the good reasons. Her recent “NH10” wasn’t a biggie at the box office, but it sure gave us a fair glimpse of who actually Anushka Sharma is! A powerhouse of talent, whims and determination. I am sure you wouldn’t have missed her in “Dil Dhadakne Do” too!

Well recently, she gave us more reasons to applaud her, out and loud, when she nailed the Sexism monster, and in quite the right tone, in an interview with Anupama Chopra.

When this sometimes outspoken and sometimes coy 27-year-old elegant girl was questioned by film critic Anupama Chopra on sexism in the industry, Anushka did not even blink an eye before speaking the utter truth, based on her own experiences.

Here are 8 more times she proved that she Is the star for GenX girls! We are presenting the interview word by word here because we do not want to change what she said, and every word made one helluva meaning!

Do not forget to watch the video at the end! It’s where you unleash the tigress inside you!

  1. Actresses are the decoration pieces in the movies who are there to show the skin and add glamour!

Anushka said, “Girls are just expected to be good-looking, look nice and just be interesting enough for a guy to be interested in you in a film. Women doing films together – they only come together in a film when there’s a boy involved. Firstly in India, I would say it is reflective of our society, that’s the way we want to look at women.”

  1. Heroine in the film has to be young! A hero can be her dad’s age too!

Anushka’s words, “Men can work as long as they want to, even when they’ve aged. They’re still amazing and cool, and I have no problem with that. But why is that women are only okay till they are “young and desirable”? So desirable means what? There’s a sexual connotation attached. So we are looking at women in that way in films only.”

  1. Bollywood isn’t an elevated industry. Sexism is deep rooted in Bollywood!

Anushka quirked, “If you’re on an outdoor schedule, you know that the guy is going to get the better room. It is at that level because it’s in our society. Boys are more important. Once I said I want to be like Nawazuddin and people said “But he is a man.” So? If I’m doing a film and I know my role is bit more than a guy, I know for a fact that none of the guys are going to do that film. Even if it is a great role. George Clooney did ‘Gravity’ because he had the foresight to be able to see the potential of this role. But in India, male actors won’t do roles if it’s less in weight as compared to the actress in that film. That’s how it is”

  1. What men get paid and what women get paid, are two hugely different things!

Anushka opined, “A few years ago, when people were being asked this question, they were being diplomatic about it. Today we’re talking about it because in all walks of life, women are earning money and the power game has shifted. A female newcomer and a male newcomer will get paid different amounts of money. You’re a newcomer, nobody knows who you are, man or woman doesn’t matter. But you’re going to get paid different money.”

  1. You are an activist if you speak your mind. I am called one for being honest about so many things!

Anushka added, “People tell me I’m an activist. They say you’re saying these kinds of things which makes you an activist. I think people don’t like women with guts in this industry. Yes I was just 25 when I decided to back NH10 as a producer. But that is actually my dream. I want to be able to leave some films behind me, not just as an actor, as a producer which have actually shifted things in the industry. I feel it’s a cause bigger than myself.”

  1. If you demand something, you are called a “bitch”.

Ahushka said quite rightly, “If you are asking for something that you think you deserve, you are a bitch. “She has an attitude problem. Isko kitna attitude hai”! We aren’t dumb. We haven’t come this far in life being floozies. All the actresses in the industry are smart. Obviously they’re not being unreasonable. But if they’re making a suggestion, they’re told they’re being “difficult”. If you are asking too many questions to directors, it’s like “Oho mera sar kha rahi hai ab.” That’s the way it’s looked at.”

Bravo girl! We need more like you in the industry. In every industry I mean, and not only B town!

We love you Anushka!

Do not forget to watch the video here. This is way better than watching romantic movies!
