Facebook never ceases to surprise its users with constant updates; be it for new features or for its mobile app (for Android and Apple), the social networking giant is always up to something new.
Though Facebook’s interface is ever-changing, but the latest UI overhaul that has hit the devices is very dramatic indeed. This update is mainly to ensure that users get to see the best of the posts from their friends, thus enabling a cleaner and tidier News Feed. Besides, the new update also brings to the fore some new features without hiding them behind obscure menus. But then, there are a few things that have become a little hard to find in the New Feed; one of which is the ‘Most Recent’ view option.
If you have been using the newly redesigned Facebook app (for Android and Apple), you would know that it shows the ‘Top Stories’ view on your News Feed, which shows content that it feels is most useful or relevant to you, instead of what has been recently posted or interacted with. Previously, in the old app, users could simply change the setting to show Most Recent in the main view, from the default; but they would have to do a little more digging post the update for apps.
If you want to see the Most Recent feed just swipe, tap on the far right tab (where you get to see three horizontal lines, named ‘More’) of the app and move down or scroll to the section titled ‘Feeds’, which is right under ‘Apps’. What you get to see here is the various types of feeds you have created with family members or friends; besides, you will also get to see another option titled ‘Most Recent’. And when you tap that entry, you will get to see a completely engaging view of your News Feed that is based on time instead of Facebook’s algorithm. Thereafter, you can go back to the settings option by tapping the back button or hitting the News Feed button at the top left hand corner of the application.
Now, please note that whatever changes you do to the main News Feed view of the new Facebook app, you will always get to see the Top Stories.
So, after you close the option for Most Recent view in the settings, you will be back to the method of sorting until, of course, you manually go and view it again. Well, it might not be the best option, but if you really want to go for some extra taps or swipes, then go for it.
