Here we wish one of the most talented actors of Bollywood Naseeruddin Shah a very Happy Birthday! He has proven his mettle over the years and is an inspiration to many young actors.
Here’s wishing one of the finest actors our country has produced, Naseeruddin Shah, a very Happy Birthday!
He is one name synonymous with terrific and sensible acting. Not just movies, he is someone to reckon with even in theatre. In fact, stage is like his second home. He is an actor who has been inspiring youngsters for so many years. For the lovers of acting, he is a walking-talking acting school! Every performance of his is analyzed, dissected and debated upon to understand the craft of acting.
However, Naseer bhai didn’t reach where he has reached, so easily. It has been an uphill and very difficult task given the fact that when he entered the industry, it didn’t offer too many opportunities as today. After finishing his graduation from National School of Drama in Delhi, he started with small non-descript roles in early 1980’s in films that were considered arty. In short, films which weren’t commercial and therefore worth-watching only for a selective audience. He did make a mark with his acting though. In 1983, he did Masoom and soon he was noticed and appreciated as an actor. Still, big banners and commercial film-makers stayed away from him thinking he doesn’t have it in him to pull the masses to theatres.
This didn’t deter the actor in Naseer bhai and he kept following his heart and passion to improve on his craft. After being in the industry for almost 35years now, the list of movies and roles he has done reads like a wish-list of any aspiring actor. Movies like Masoom, Jaaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Hey Ram, Iqbal, Sarfarosh, The Dirty Picture, Ishqiya, Monsoon Wedding and many many more have proven his versatility and command over his craft over the years.
Surprisingly, he has never acted with the other superstar of his era, Amitabh Bachchan! Various projects were launched to bring these two stalwarts together but nothing worked out. He however did few films with his brother-in-law and classmate, Pankaj Kapoor (another biggie of Bollywood when acting is concerned) which was a treat for his fans!
Naseeruddin Shah is one actor who consistently gives his fans something new in every role he does. Even if he makes an appearance for a few scenes, he makes sure that it is justified. Even though during his youth, he did some senseless cinema (movies like Tridev, Vishwaatma etc.) to get accepted as a commercial hero, he is past that stage now. Thank goodness for that!
As his fans, we really look forward to see him in as many films as possible. May he be bestowed with good health to carry on doing the fantastic work he is associated with!
